starting from the time we lost our striker youla, we have been looking forward to transfer a good striker. but sofar we can only transfer a 19-year-ol nigerian boy. so we need a experienced striker. however, in turkey you cannot have more than 6 foreign players. and we have right 6 foreign players including skoko. so we need to give skoko to another club so that we can get a new striker-maybe kpaka-

Dear Lien, Could you explain us briefly why Kpaka couldn't improve his career such as being transferred into Premiership or some other better leagues than Belgium League after his fascinating season in GBA, scoring 28 goals? Rumours say that Arsenal is interested with him in the end of 2001-2002 season but this transfer didn't happen and he stayed in Belgium League for 3 more seasons. Is it because of injuries or some other different reasons? Also can you give your "own" comments about the plausibility of this breaking news. :) Thanks.

Yes, it was because he was badly injured at his knee. Genk bought him during his revalidation (he signed in july, so he already didn't play 3 months, and he had another 4 months to go). Genk was sure he would come back the way he was playing (he was top-scorer). Every Genk fan has his own opinion about his come-back.. I guess he did it great, but he didn't got a lot chances to play (we had 5 strikers, so that's too much). I am not really happy about the possibility about the transfer, (only if josip would return, but it's unreal) because Genclerbirligi always takes my favourite player :cry: I just managed to get his shirt of the last game... Altough Josip was (and still is!!) my biggest favourite :wink: But at another site, meaby it's better for Kpaka to go, because he can't play much.., and he's far too good to sit on the bank. We first announced that the Latics had moved for the midfielder on the 10th of July, more than two weeks ago. The 29 year old midfielder currently plays his trade in Turkey with Genclerbirligi and has been after a move to the Premiership for some time. A move to Manchester City recently fell through at the 11th hour, but it seems a move to the JJB is more than likely. The Australia international confirmed negotiations had opened last week and Jewell is likely to step up discussions after Sheffield United rejected a bid for Phil Jagielka in recent days. "I am happy here at Genclerbirligi, however the Premiership is something else," said Skoko. "I hope the negotiations with Wigan Athletic will be worked out. "If it fails, I will continue to give everything I have got for Genclerbirligi. They want again a top five ranking and of course there is the World Cup in Germany."
